A strong foundation in family life is necessary to take on any challenges that may come across. As a Fundamentalist Christian, I will say that the key to a lifelong bond is in a family that prays together. Putting Jesus at the center of the marriage, at the center of one’s life, as the strong foundation, will sustain.
From a researcher’s standpoint, it imperative to address that many families in the United States are touched by divorce and majority of those occurring in families with young children. For those seeking a divorce, family therapy is suggested. During separation, family members may experience emotional upheaval and many changes occurring in their family. An overwhelming time such as this calls for family therapists who will be able to assist in the process. Any children involved maybe emotionally and/or physically affected. There maybe school programs for children. If not, it is necessary to offer small groups for children in private and/or public schools during school day or after school. It will aid the children and help them understand that they are not experiencing the situation alone and maybe taught any coping strategies.
What is best is if the topic of divorce can altogether be avoided when conflicts arise in a marriage between two couples. For the Fundamentalist groups who are facing the highest rate of divorce in the South, the church can be of aid in reducing the rate of divorce. A more focused teaching on the first institution created by God, His perfect design for the mankind maybe of significant help. Also, if the church is aware of any conflict between couples, a Biblical study by the pastor/preacher conducted personally just for two, is recommended to avoid any further damage in the marriage.
